Teenager Zac Lomax has retained his place at centre and is inching closer towards a match-up with his childhood idol Greg Inglis, but Tim Lafai remains on standby for kicking duties.

"Depending on whether Zac plays or not, I'll put my hand up and give it a shot," Lafai said. "I've been doing some practice at training since Gaz was ou,t and I'll keep practising in case I need to do it.

"[Lomax] is a kid who has got his head screwed on right. "He's mature for his age and all the boys were proud of his efforts in that game and he fitted in with the boys.

"He's got a big future ahead of him, and we told him just to keep his head down, keep doing the work, stay humble and that's what he's doing. He's going to be awesome and it's going to be a tough decision for the coaches."
