Just as Apple prepares to leap into the TV streaming market, YouTube may be taking a step back.

The Google-owned video streaming site isn't proceeding with its plans for big-budget scripted shows, according to Bloomberg, which cited anonymous sources in its Sunday report. It's no longer taking pitches for such projects, the report noted.

Sci-fi drama Origin and comedy Overthinking with Kat & June, both of which were released for subscribers of its YouTube Premium service, will apparently be canceled as part of the shift in strategy.

YouTube denied the report, saying it's developing new series for a global audience using the ad-supported model that'll be in place for all of its series by the end of the year.
