Known COVID-19 cases in WA have jumped to 877, WA Health officials have reported.
In the 24-hours up to 8pm on Friday, 262 new cases were reported. Of these, 257 are local cases and five are travel-related.
Despite the escalating numbers, none of the 877 cases are in hospital.
The numbers include 11 people who self-reported their positive rapid antigen test (RAT) results.
It comes a day after Premier Mark McGowan announced WA’s hard border will finally be dismantled on March 3, and a raft of new restrictions introduced from 6am Monday February 21.
The new restrictions include an expansion of mask rules to all indoor public settings State-wide in a bid to stem the spread of the highly contagious Omicron variant.
WA Health has urged anyone in the Perth, Peel, Wheatbelt, Pilbara and South West regions to get tested immediately if they are experiencing symptoms and isolate until they receive a negative result.
“This applies to anyone symptomatic – even if you have not visited a listed exposure site,” a spokesperson said.
WA’s vaccination rate continues to surge, with 22,546 doses administered on Friday.
“Demand for vaccinations and third doses is increasing. To spread the demand across clinic operating hours and to avoid excessive wait times, people are encouraged to make a booking via Vaccinate WA,” the spokesperson said.
“Vaccinations are also available at GPs, pharmacies and community clinics.”
