Victorian Premier Cricket have come down hard on two second grade cricketers after separate conduct during a second grade match drew headlines across the world.
Brothers Sen and Nivin Sathyajith faced the tribunal on Wednesday night on charges relating to their conduct during their narrow victory for Kingston Hawthorn against Casey South Melbourne at Walter Galt Reserve in Parkdale.
Fox Cricket understands the brothers pleaded guilty to Level 4 misconduct charges, which were completely unrelated to the ‘Mankad’ controversies that finished the match.

Sen received a 10-match ban, while Nivin copped an eight-match ban. Sen has been instructed to complete an education program in addition to his heavy suspension. In Round 9, Sen received a one-match ban for serious dissent.
Set 8-203, Hawthorn won after the Swans were all out for 190 — the final wicket coming from one of cricket’s most vexed laws, the “Mankad”.
It was the second time in the match that bowler Sen Sathyajith had used the tactic to pick up a wicket and although it is written in the rule book, most consider implementing the tactic goes against the spirit of the game.
In both Mankad instances, the umpire can be seen confirming with the Hawks captain whether he wishes to uphold the appeal.
Cricket Victoria said it “won’t be making further comment on the tribunal or its deliberations’’.
At the time of the second Mankad, Casey-South Melbourne required 14 to win from 18 deliveries with one wicket in hand.
Former state cricket Adam Crosthwaite, who has starred in Melbourne and Sydney for years, was one of the many to hit out at the decisions to follow through with the mankad.
“This is so bad,” Crosthwaite wrote.
“This is horrible. Cannot believe the people in this post praising the bowler. Are you kidding?”
It’s understood the bowler – Sen Sathyajith – is the same player who screamed ‘No! Every week’ when a teammate dropped a catch earlier in the season. The video also went viral.
