That move, announced last month, was intended to address privacy concerns that Life360 was selling user data that was too precise to too many people.

Life360 shares closed at $4.68, having started the session at $6.16. Both figures were sharply down on highs late last year around $13, as the technology sector endures a broader selloff.

Privacy has become increasingly important for technology services, in part driven by marketing from Apple, which has made it part of its sales pitch for devices such as iPhones. That has also focussed attention on the problems with AirTags.

In a post on its website, Apple said incidents of AirTags being misused were rare but condemned them regardless. It said it had provided AirTag data to law enforcement authorities in response to legal requests, leading in some cases to charges being laid against perpetrators who used the devices.
