“PayTo gives control back to the customer with increased visibility and management of where their money goes and when. Because of this, we expect to see PayTo being used for a range of payments including direct debits, in-app purchases on your phone and online shopping,” says Katrina Stuart, general manager of business payments for the organisation behind PayTo, Australian Payments Plus (AP+).
ClassHive
Ever get frustrated when you can’t log in to something? Imagine how teachers feel when they’re trying to log in 30 junior school students all at the same time.
ClassHive, developed by the team behind the Aboriginal education company Wingaru Education, is an edutech solution that aims to reduce teachers’ administrative loads, and free up more time for that other thing they do: teaching.
Designed specifically for Australian schools, it offers auto logins for all resources, for teachers and students, from anywhere.
Launched last year, it is now available nationwide. “We are seeing over 10,000 student logins per school day,” says CEO, Lesley Woodhouse.
“ClassHive schools are reporting a 30 per cent increase in their use of digital tools versus pre-ClassHive adoption, and teachers are saving up to two hours per week due to the simplicity of our auto-login feature.”
Mr Yum
When Kim Teo went to restaurants, she used to spend lots of time on her phone, looking up images of meals so she didn’t make an order she would regret.
Wouldn’t it be great to have a digital visual menu, she thought. So, she co-founded Mr Yum, which not only enables businesses to create those menus but allows customers to order their food from their devices.
Mr Yum launched in 2019. Then COVID came along, and it took off. More than 32 million people have used it in more than 5,000 venues worldwide in the past 12 months.
Vice President Boden Westover says the beauty of Mr Yum is that it still allows customers to have great interactions with their server if they want to.
“A guest can sit down, order whenever they want, pay however they want, reorder whenever they want, and leave whenever they want, all while still having a personal relationship with their server, who has more time to provide value to the meal and not just write down orders.”
Eucalyptus
It can be hard enough getting a doctor’s appointment. If you want ongoing help beyond that, well...
“The healthcare industry in Australia has been reluctant to embrace the convenience that comes with digitisation, and Eucalyptus has emerged to fill that need,” says the digital healthcare company’s CEO, Tim Doyle.
Founded in 2019, Eucalyptus provides medical advice from GPs and ongoing support to help people with conditions from weight loss to skin health and fertility. It’s made up of four brands: Juniper, Pilot, Kin, and Software.
The service connects patients with doctors for telehealth consultations and then keeps patients connected to broader support services.
For weight loss, for example, after their consultation, patients get health coaching and dietitian advice through the Eucalyptus platform.
“Telehealth is still very much in its first chapter,” Doyle says.
“We can see the impact that a medical team working with patients on a shared platform can have. We are excited to see this extend to other conditions such as mental health, heart disease, sleep and more of the healthcare issues facing society.”
