“We’ve always just told him to back his ability. He’s there for a reason, he knows what he can do.”

An ankle injury to Sailor, suffered in the Queensland Cup, will keep him out for up to eight weeks.

Meanwhile, towering prop Ben Te Kura will miss up to four months, as he goes under the knife this week on a Lisfranc injury.

The injury sheet mirrors that of the Maroons up front, with Tino Fa’asuamaleaui and Tom Gilbert ruled out for the season with ACL ruptures.

Thomas Flegler has not yet returned from a shoulder injury, while Jai Arrow is only just starting to work his way back into action.

But Jensen, who has made his NRL career out of being a no-frills, no-nonsense prop, believes he is ready to answer an SOS from Queensland coach Billy Slater.

“All I can control is how I’m playing footy here and if it’s something that Billy [Slater] wants to look at then I’ll be 100 per cent grateful for it, and I’d love to just be a part of the arena,” Jensen said.

“If I’m playing good footy, then you never know what can happen. I’ve always just been one of those sort of hard-working taller players and I don’t do anything fancy.

“I just try and get the team forward and defend well and do the one-percenters, and that’s what I try and build my game around.

“If that’s something Billy is looking at then I’ll 100 per cent put my hand up.”
