“I’m always here to bring the energy and create a bit of fun and laughter around the group,” he said.

“There’s a lot of personalities here. You can come in straight away and be yourself ... I feel like it’s helped.”

Coach Chris Fagan smirked at Lohmann’s theatrics post-game before praising him for adding another layer to his play.

“He gets a bit excited, Kai, but he brings a lot of energy to the team,” Fagan said.

“He’s been working on the pressure side of his game and that’s been pretty good.

“He’s contributing in that way, not just in terms of taking a mark or getting a crumb and kicking a goal.”

Lohmann played just eight games across the last two seasons but still re-signed with Brisbane in 2023, keen to learn more from fellow small forwards Charlie Cameron and Lincoln McCarthy.

“It’s made me a better player,” he said.

“I’m glad I waited my turn, now I can play some good footy.

“I’m really trying to knuckle down and bring pressure and try and get some turnovers for us.

“It’s nice [to contribute] but I’ve got to stay level-headed and grounded as well. I won’t dwell on it too much.”
