Taylan May’s career at the Panthers is hanging by a thread after he was hit with a second breach notice by the club relating to the allegation he punched his wife in a domestic incident, even though the matter is not due to be heard before a court until next year.

May has already fronted the Penrith board for one show cause hearing to answer alleged code of conduct breaches and he is now grappling with a further show cause warning, this time linked to the domestic violence-related police charges.

According to sources not allowed to speak publicly about the matter because of the confidential nature of the issue, May has been served with another breach notice which, for the first time, makes reference to police charges involving an alleged dispute with his partner.

May has pleaded not guilty to three counts of domestic violence, which include allegations he struck his wife in the face and leg during an argument at a Werrington home in April, as well as stalking.

He faced Penrith Local Court last month and the case was adjourned until March, 2025.

But it hasn’t stopped the Panthers moving another step closer to sacking May. The club issued a further breach notice accusing the 22-year-old of bringing the club into disrepute with the domestic violence allegations.

May applied to the Federal Court on Friday for an injunction to stop Penrith’s show cause hearing proceeding on Monday, which could have led to his potential sacking.

May’s legal team and the Panthers’ legal counsel are expected to go before a judge again on Wednesday, hours before NSW and Queensland meet in the second match of the Origin series in Melbourne.
