Queensland have secured a historic women's State of Origin victory with a 22-6 win over New South Wales in Townsville.
The first decider in women's Origin history was always going to be a momentous occasion and the Maroons stood up to the pressure with a comprehensive display against the out-of-sorts Blues.
Here are five quick hits from State of Origin III.
1. Tonegato drops on Blues first touch
The Blues first touch of the ball was a tone-setter in all the worst ways with star fullback Emma Tonegato losing possession as she returned a kick inside the opening minute.
It was the start of a horror night in the handling department as New South Wales failed to adapt to the wet conditions – they made 17 errors in all and were never able to find any kind of rhythm.
Queensland scored directly off the scrum through powerful centre Evania Pelite, giving the Maroons the confidence boost they needed and putting the Blues on the backfoot from the start.
Tonegato endured a tough night — later in the first half she failed to clean up a Tarryn Aiken grubber and her error led to a try to Queensland winger Julia Robinson.
2. Big kick Brown does it again
Queensland's Lauren Brown is a player of many talents. She's equally adept at centre, hooker or in the halves and she's one of the best clutch players in women's rugby league, as evidenced by her match-winning field goal in Origin II.
The game wasn't on the line when she looked to convert Robinson's try midway through the first half but given points were at a premium it was an important kick.
Brown is good off the tee but nailing this one, from the sideline in the wet on the harder side for a right-foot kicker, needed to be better than just good.
The Titans playmaker made no mistake, drilling the key conversion that put Queensland up by more than two converted tries and ensured they'd hold their dominance through the first half.
3. Brigginshaw won't ever stop
Brigginshaw is the dominant player of the modern age of women's rugby league, a living legend in the truest sense of the word.
At 34, she is closer to the end of her career than the beginning and after a subpar display at lock in Origin I it was fair to question if time had come for Brigginshaw, as it must one day for all players.
But from the looks of things, that day is still a way off. Brigginshaw moved back to halfback for Origin II and III and looked as cunning and intelligent as ever.
Along with halves partner Aiken, Brigginshaw kicked the Blues to death with a variety of smart and judicious last-tackle options.
Her booming 40/30 just after half-time was the highlight but Brigginshaw was making the right choice all night, in contrast to Blues pair Rachael Pearson and Corban Baxter who struggled badly with the ends to their sets.
"That was my first ever 40/30 and in Origin so I'll take it," Brigginshaw told ABC Grandstand.
"Come off the boot sweet."
4. Upton makes it count
To their credit, the Blues hung in there even as it became clear this would not be their night. Once Millie Elliott and Caitlan Johnston came for their second stints and combined with Olivia Kernick in the middle they were able to create ruck speed and some attacking chances.
If Baxter had been able to go over off Johnston's offload with 15 minutes to go, the Blues might have been a chance of storming home.
The Roosters pivot looked certain to score only for Maroons fullback Tamika Upton to punch the ball out at the last minute.
Upton is better known for her attacking class, which hasn't been on display as much in this series as in the past, but like the very best of players she still found a way to impact the game when it counted most.
5. Chapman goes the length
After the night they'd had, the only way the Blues really looked like scoring was off an intercept or a dropped ball and it was the latter that ensured they wouldn't leave Townsville scoreless.
Jamie Chapman has enjoyed a breakout series and always looked one of New South Wales' most likely avenues for points.
When she latched onto a loss Aiken pass inside the Blues 20, it was still a dangerous moment because Chapman has the pace to cross from anywhere on the field.
It proved to be too little and too late but Chapman showing a clean pair of heels as she raced the length of the field to score and give New South Wales a glimmer of hope was about as good as it got on a disappointing night for the Blues.
