5) Lukhan Salakaia-Loto (6.5): While Loto helped to restore the Wallabies’ early issues in the lineout with a tall and commanding presence, unfortunately, he also partially cost his side with a yellow card for a high shot. It was a tough card, as the second row had tried to dip his giant frame, but it was the correct decision. Positively was the Wallabies’ top tackler on the night with 14.

6) Rob Valetini (8.5): An outstanding night for one of the first names on the Wallabies team sheet. Tremendous in defence, making a thundering hit on Wales’ James Botham that set the statement for his pack. He popped up with a vital turnover that saved a certain Wales try. In the loose, he carried ten times, gaining ground each time.

7) Fraser McReight (7.5): An improved outing for McReight, who was busy all over the field. He ran a huge distance with the ball for Filipo Daugunu’s first try, and timed his pass perfectly for the flying winger. He also got two crucial turnovers, being the Wallabies best there and back to his bread and butter.

8) Charlie Cale (6.5): His athleticism was clear to see as he made a crucial lineout steal that saved the Wallabies with Wales deep in their half and cranking up the pressure in the second half. He provides a nice alternative to the abrasive Valetini, but he will also be disappointed with some sloppy knock-ons.

9) Jake Gordon (8) - The Waratahs captain is loving life in the Wallabies jersey after such a tough season for the Waratahs. He thought about moving to France, and must be increasingly happy he didn’t as he gets another win for Australia. His box kicks and service were solid as ever, and he popped up with a try. Schmidt’s prototype player will be hard to shake from the halfback spot.

10) Noah Lolesio (6) Off the tee he was generally sharp, hitting all four of his penalties and missing two out of his four conversions. But he doesn’t look completely comfortable getting his backline moving. He threw a horrific pass at Tom Wright’s bootlaces on his line at 6 minutes, but somehow the full-back tidied up, ultimately leading to Daugunu’s try.

11) Filipo Daugunu (8.5): Scored two tries and has been a revelation for coach Joe Schmidt. He was the Wallabies leading carrier on the night and also showed great appetite in defence, combining perfectly with halfback Jake Gordon to make a try-saving tackle for the Wallabies. The former soccer goalkeeper is constantly sweeping looking for work all over the field, which ultimately led to his first try powering up the field to provide support for the tiring Fraser McReight.

12) Hunter Paisami (7.5): He is not a flashy player, but he is the perfect foil for this Wallabies side. He carried hard and also was constantly at the breakdown causing difficulties for the Welsh, acting as an auxiliary breakaway with a vital turnover. His twelve tackles on the night all carried spite.

13) Josh Flook (6): A quiet outing again from Flook in his second cap. Didn’t do anything wrong but will want more attacking opportunities to shine. At just 22-years-old they will no doubt come.

14) Andrew Kellaway (7): Showed great calmness under tremendous pressure on his line after receiving a pass from Tom Wright, side stepped, chipped and chased before palming the ball perfectly to Fraser McReight who ultimately set up Filipo Daugunu for his first try.

15) Tom Wright (6.5): A very different game for Wright after his brilliant try in the first Test. He was limited with his space but was mostly solid under the high ball given the difficult and wet conditions.

16) Josh Nasser (6): Will be annoyed at his missed tackle on Wales’ winger Rio Dyer late in the game, but did well with his job at the lineout on debut.

17: Isaac Kailea (7): Another great outing for a Melbourne born and bred player who made eight tackles and charged into his work with relish.

18) Allan Alaalatoa (7.5): Scored his first Test try off a rolling maul and provides vital leadership for the Wallabies pack every time he comes on the field. A great night for the Brumbies stalwart.

19) Angus Blyth (6): Another solid if unspectacular outing from Blyth, who provides grunt in the loose, making five tackles.

20) Langi Gleeson (6.5): A surprising selection for some, but he came on and won a crucial lineout steal when it was badly needed late in the game.

21) Nic White (6): Had a box kick charged down and isn’t of Gordon’s calibre there, but also made a vital kick off his line to give his team some breathing room when they needed it most.

22) Ben Donaldson (6.5): Made a significant difference when he came on, nailing a penalty off the tee that sealed the game and also using his huge boot to get the Wallabies some territory when they desperately needed it. Steadied the Wallabies nerves well with his work.
