Here we go at the velodrome, for the Australian men going in the qualification for the team pursuit.

The Australian line-up is:

Oliver Bleddyn, Sam Welsford, Conor Leahy and Kelland O'Brien.

There are 10 teams in the event, they set a time for the 4000m, and then the top eight teams qualify for the knockout section, where the pursuit bit comes in.

It's a bit like footy finals, with the sixth-fastest facing the seventh-fastest, fifth versus eighth, first versus fourth and second versus third.

The teams start on opposite sides of the track, and go like the clappers for 12 laps. There are four riders on each team, and they take it in turns on the front, before "peeling off" - going up the banking and letting teammates go through before dropping in at the back.

A team's time is defined by the third rider crossing the line.

The Australians will be riding eighth of 10, which is an advantage, as they will largely know what their target time is.
