The Brisbane Lions and GWS Giants meet at the Gabba in a clash that has massive finals implications, as the Kangaroos and Eagles face off in a match that will determine the top of the draft order later this year.

Later, Fremantle and Geelong will do battle at Perth Stadium as both teams aim to solidify their finals spots, with that clash set for 4.35pm.

That match will be followed by a double-header as Essendon hosts the Gold Coast Suns at Docklands Stadium, while Melbourne hosts Port Adelaide at the MCG, with both matches commencing at 7.30pm.

BL v GWS: The Big O strikes as Lions dominance continues

It's two goals in a minute for the Lions!

Following the centre bounce, Oscar McInerney ghosts into the forward line and takes a mark that's virtually uncontested 35m out directly in front.

McInerney drills the set shot and it's a great start now this for the Lions.

We've got out first goal of the afternoon and it's come at the nine-minute mark of the first term.

The ball is sent inside 50 and Joe Daniher is one out with Sam Taylor and the ball gets out the back.

Daniher wins the footrace and soccers it through.

The Lions having plenty of the footy early, they've got 35 disposals to 24 and have five inside 50s to one.

BL vs GWS: Review denies Cadman after crafty finish

Aaron Cadman thinks he's kicked one of the goals of the season, but the ARC rules that the ball has juuust clipped the inside of the right goalpost.

We're still waiting for the first goal of the afternoon. Brisbane will feel like they should have kicked it, but Joe Daniher missed an easy set shot from 30m out directly in front.

Dayne Zorko already up to four touches for Brisbane.

BL vs GWS: Key match-ups to start first quarter

GWS has wasted no time by sending their tagger Toby Bedford straight to Lachie Neale.

In the Lions' defence, Harris Andrews is trying to mark Coleman Medal leader Jesse Hogan.

What a match-up that one will be!
