The construction union’s former leaders are going to the High Court to challenge the government’s decision to tip it into administration because of bikie infiltration and allegations of corruption.

Former senior official Jade Ingham announced the challenge on Tuesday and will speak at a rally supporting it in Brisbane this afternoon.

“The most important people in this are the members of the CFMEU whose voices have been excluded,” Ingham said in remarks reported elsewhere. “Members are furious about their union being taken away from them. Their union has been stolen from them.”

He accused the Albanese government of treachery for appointing barrister Mark Irving to clean out the union. No allegations have been made against Ingham.
