Australia's Jaryd Clifford is still coming to terms with missing a medal by one-hundredth of a second in the 1500m.

"There's a lot of different feelings, a lot of different emotions," he tells Channel Nine.

"Obviously. Firstly, gutted with the way the result turned out. But yeah, probably still a little bit numb."

Clifford also speaks about dropping the tether meters out from the finish line in the 5000m, calling it "the most gutting of the performances".

"I really thought that I had one of the best, finishes in the 5k," he says.

"Dropping the tether with a metre to go is like, I hope it's not lazy.

"I was so out of it that I actually thought maybe (his guide) Clarke had crossed in front of me, which wasn't the case.

"That's how little I can remember of it. I wish I hadn't have done that. It was a really silly mistake to make."
