The US election has been called for Donald Trump, and seven key battleground states were key to his victory.
Of the seven, five – Georgia, Pennsylvania, North Carolina, Wisconsin and Michigan – have been called.
The votes are still being tallied in the other two — Arizona and Nevada.

Arizona – Not yet called
Trump has the lead in Arizona with 61 per cent of the vote counted. This is one of the “Sun Belt” seats that was likely to play a key role in this election. Joe Biden won Arizona in 2020, but Trump won it in 2016.
Georgia – Trump
Georgia was the first major swing state to close its polls on election night and was called for Trump on Wednesday. Since then, 97 per cent of the state’s vote has been counted. Biden won Georgia in 2020, but Trump won it in 2016.
Michigan – Trump
Michigan has been called for Trump, with 99 per cent of the votes counted. Biden won Michigan in 2020, but Trump won it in 2016.
Nevada – Not yet called
Nevada’s polls closed 2pm AEDT, and with 85 per cent of votes counted, Trump has the lead. It was won by Hillary Clinton in 2016, and Biden in 2020.
North Carolina – Trump
North Carolina was called for Trump on Wednesday. Since then, 99 per cent of the vote has been counted. The state was won by Trump in both 2016 and 2020.
Pennsylvania – Trump
Pennsylvania was called for Trump on Wednesday. Since then, 97 per cent of votes have been counted. Pennsylvania has been widely regarded as the most important swing state in this election because it holds 19 electoral votes. In 2016 Pennsylvania was won by Trump, but Biden won it back for the Democrats in 2020.
Wisconsin – Trump
Wisconsin was called for Trump late on Wednesday, with 97 per cent of the vote counted. Wisconsin was won by Trump in 2016, and Biden in 2020.
