A two-year-old boy has died after being hit by a car during pick-up time at a school in Brisbane’s south-west.
The child is believed to have been in the Durack State School carpark when he was struck around 3.30pm.
Paramedics rushed to the school but the boy was pronounced dead at the scene.
A woman was reportedly assisting police with their investigation on Thursday night.
Durack State School staff expressed their condolences on social media.
“The entire Durack State School community is deeply saddened by the tragic incident that took place this afternoon [Thursday],” they wrote.
“We offer deepest sympathies to family and loved ones.
“The school will open tomorrow [Friday] and we will have support and counsellors in place for anyone needing to talk.”
Police were expected to release more information on Friday.
