NSW have omitted Nic Maddinson from their side for the Sheffield Shield match against Tasmania, despite the former Test batsman returning to the squad after a break from the game.

Tasmania won the toss and sent NSW into bat first under heavy clouds at North Dalton Park.

Medium-pacer Harry Conway takes the place of spinner Arjun Nair as the only change from the NSW side which drew with Queensland a fortnight ago.
