A US WOMAN faces rape charges after allegedly having sex with three underage football players.
The Sun reports that Mary Fletcher, 42, is said to have had intercourse with the trio of schoolchildren after meeting them while working for the team photographer.
The blonde, who uses the name Debbie, was arrested on Tuesday in Siskiyou County, California, after cops received a complaint last September.
An investigation reportedly revealed Fletcher had sex with the teens in different parts of the county. The exact ages of the boys have not been disclosed.
Prosecutor Kirk Andrus said: “I have spoken with some of the victims and these cases are always challenging.
“Especially for a young person that are by definition not prepared for this kind of relationship.
“Relationship is probably the wrong word but they’re not prepared for this kind of interaction with an adult.”
Fletcher faces four counts of raping the students from Mount Shasta High School football team.
She is also accused of trying to keep a witness from co-operating with police.
Mr Andrus said an arrest could have been made at any time during the probe if officers felt they had enough probable cause.
But Siskiyou County Sheriff’s Office ultimately decided to wait because Fletcher was not an immediate danger to the community.
“There would not have been really any utility to hurrying through an investigation so we just wanted to make sure it was complete,” he told local TV station, News 10.
The Sheriff’s Office said investigators “initiated an investigation that alleged Ms Fletcher had sexual-related contact with three students from Mount Shasta High School.
“The alleged sexual misconduct involved three minor boys, and the investigation revealed the offences occurred in unincorporated areas of Siskiyou County within a period encompassing several weeks prior to the initial report by school officials of Mount Shasta Police Department.
“No school employees were involved in the alleged misconduct.
“School officials, when they became aware there could be inappropriate misconduct associated with the interactions between the suspect and students, promptly notified law enforcement investigators.”
Fletcher has been bailed and is due in court on March 22.
