Qatar’s food and beverage offering for business passengers will also get an overhaul.

IT’S business class — but as you’ve never seen before.

Qatar Airways has unveiled its highly-anticipated, next-generation style of business class and you’re set to be impressed.

Named QSuite, it features the first ever double bed in business class with privacy panels that drop down to create a private room with the adjoining seat.

The centre four seats of the cabin also feature adjustable panels and movable TV monitors to allow families, friends or colleagues travelling together to transform their space into a huge private suite.

The new seats, which have been two years in the making, were launched overnight at ITB Berlin, the world’s largest travel trade show.

“Our unique and patented design is a world first in many ways and challenges industry norms by offering passengers more privacy, more choice and more personalisation,” said Qatar Airways chief executive Akbar Al Baker.

Qatar has called it a “first class experience in business class”.

Each seat is finished with hand-stitched Italian leather and satin rose gold, luxury bed linens and a new food and beverage concept with fancy new chinaware and cutlery.

On top of its current “dine on demand” service that allows passengers to choose when they would like to eat, the new business class menu will also offer a selection of snack sharing dishes throughout the flight — suddenly those four centre seats become a private party.

And for those who like a sleep-in, a “wake-up express breakfast” will now be available.

Of course, the amenity kits have also been stepped up, with Qatar Airways announcing a new partnership with The White Company. Business class passengers will receive cotton sleeper suits and products from Italy’s Castello Monte Vibiano Vecchio.

The new QSuite concept will be rolled out on the Qatar Airways fleet from June.

A sample Qatar Airways business class sale fare from Sydney to London for travel in October starts from about $3600, which compares favourably with Qantas and Emirates (both about $3700).

Qatar Airways has been aggressively competing for a slice of the lucrative airline industry and was last year named the airline with the world’s best business class by Skytrax.
