CELEB chef Luke Mangan has been forced to apologise to angry diners, who lashed out at him after parting with hundreds of dollars for his “ultimate summer” beach picnic at Bondi — only for it to run out of food after forcing punters to wait for hours.

A Moveable Feast, the brainchild of the Salt founder, attracted about 3000 diners, with tickets going for $165 a pop — although they were only sold in pairs — for the lavish event on Bondi Beach.

But punters have taken to social media following the event, saying the Feast proved to be more of a farce after quickly running out of food.

“Looking forward to my refund from last nights farce of an event,” Dan Sharp, tweeted at celeb chef Mangan.

“NO food. 2 hour queue for booze Worst event ever @dominos instead,” another Twitter user said, announcing he was forced to pick up a Domino’s pizza on the way home.

‘Worst $500 spent on 2 hour wait for preordered booze … then no food left due to amazingly poor event organisation,’ mikeys71 posted to Instagram.

Domino’s “came to rescue at end of night as no staff had any idea what was happening”.

Diners also faced long lines for food and wine, with one woman complaining her meal was stolen from her table while she was stuck in the drinks line.

“I paid $165 for a two hour wait and to have my food stolen — it’s the worst festival I’ve ever been to,” she said.

“Why do you think I’m so drunk? I haven’t had anything to eat.”

The woman and a friend were forced to sate their hunger with some crackers from their handbags.

Another couple managed to get their plates, but complained they spent up to two hours in line waiting for drinks. Others said they were forced to wait in line for more than half an hour, despite pre-ordering bottles of wine.

Mangan apologised to diners for the event.

In a statement, a spokeswoman for Mangan said: “I am writing on behalf of Luke, as he and team are aware of and sincerely apologise for the fact that some of the 3500 guests at last nights A Moveable Feast on Bondi Beach did not enjoy their experience.

“Unfortunately these issues were due to some operational challenges that sat beyond our control.

“We will be working on these issues with the event organisers to ensure the next A Moveable Feast event is run seamlessly.”

The event, which was scheduled to run from 6pm to 11, was also cut short by an hour, with organisers turning off the music and packing up, leaving diners demanding answers.

The stuff up comes only several weeks after celeb chef Kylie Kwong was forced to apologise for a massive Chinese New Year food fail, where punters were left lining up for hours.
