We've finally reached the end of the Oceanic Pro League's regular season, and our postseason schedule has been locked in. Five teams will compete for the top spot, as well as a trip to Brazil for the Mid-Season Invitational against some of the best teams from around the world. But let's not worry about the beautiful São Paulo sights that await our future champions: we've got a playoffs gauntlet to look at.

Play of the Week

I consider myself a good person. I love helping little old Asian ladies with their groceries. Recently I gave some change to a beggar. I like to think I'm giving more to this world than I'm taking out of it.

But all that changed on Sunday. I watched Tgun end Destiny's career, and I did nothing.

I could have warned Destiny in Twitch chat, but I didn't. I could have burst into the studio and wrested control of his mouse away from the lurking Blitzcrank, but I was more comfortable sitting at home. I could have activated the remote control virus I installed inside Tgun's keyboard (which is a real thing that definitely exists) and forced a pause, but I held back.

And now I must atone. For allowing that Blitzcrank to hook the poor Karma in pursuit of a few Frostfang stacks. For not stopping Tgun from punching the Blast Cone, sending Destiny to his doom.

Chiefs Esports Club v Tainted Minds

Result: 2-0 Chiefs Esports Club

lol

Chiefs returned from their competitive exile with a new vigour, thumping Tainted Minds in just 17 minutes in their first game back. Quin 'Raes' Korebrits racked up three kills in the first four minutes, and launched the Chiefs snowball to one of the fastest wins in their history.

Unwilling to get embarrassed twice in a row, TM started strong in Game 2 as Jordan 'Only' Middleton was active on Lee Sin early (how many times have we said that this season?) to keep his team in the fight. But once the focus of the game switched to objectives, Chiefs demonstrated their experience as they closed it out in 24.

Avant Garde v Sin Gaming

Result: Avant Garde 2-1

lol

In a preview of the first gauntlet match, Sin won some key fights early in Game 1, setting up Tommy 'ry0ma' Le to feast in the midgame on Zed. Sin demonstrated some methodical objective play as they utilised his lead to pressure the whole map at once for a 31-minute win.

Game 2 was an ugly slugfest that featured Avant getting ahead only to throw at key objectives, and it looked like it was all over when Sin poured into their base to ice the series. But some awesome kiting from Myles 'Blinky' Irving's Ashe (which would have been a Play of the Week candidate if I didn't have a Tgun bias) put Avant back in the game for a crucial Baron, and eventually a hard-fought win.

The strange rivalry that is Avant vs Sin continued in Game 3 in a long, action-packed game. Just check out the gold graph. Baron was a prized objective in this game, but it would ultimately turn out to be a trap that neither team could fully utilise. In the end, a poor objective trade on Sin's end exposed their base and goaded them into a fight against a kiting Stephen 'Triple' Li -- one he accepted without hesitation.

LG Dire Wolves v Exile 5

Result: 2-0 LG Dire Wolves

lol

Exile 5 started strong as Bradley 'Tgun' Seymour dominated the kill feed on his favourite Blitzcrank (including one nifty Play of the Week), but Dire Wolves controlled the map in true cold-blooded veteran fashion for a strong 24-minute win. Exile 5 definitely had more fun, though.

Dire Wolves claimed their first seed in Game 2, going blow-for-blow with x5's Hecarim comp until Calvin 'k1ng' Truong was poised to take over. From there, it was a textbook Wolves win, though Tgun finished with a deathless 1/0/6 on Blitzcrank.

Abyss Esports Club v Legacy Esports

Result: 2-0 Legacy Esports

lol

Brandon 'Claire' Nguyen got to have some fun on LeBlanc in Game 1, picking up two kills early on to begin the Legacy snowball. Legacy didn't reach hard for advantages in the midgame, tempering themselves before exploding for a win without Baron, only one inhibitor down, and a 25-3 kill score.

James 'Tally' Shute pulled out the bruiser Fizz in Game 2, but it was Sebastian 'Seb' de Cegile that drew attention early on with his Lee Sin antics. Legacy would have to wait for the midgame to start winning, opting for a less bloody objective game to end the regular season.

The Oceanic Pro League playoffs begin on Friday 5pm AEST as Sin Gaming look for revenge on Avant Garde. Watch live at http://oce.lolesports.com.
