IT was the biggest blunder in awards show history but the Logies producers are adamant they won’t suffer an Oscars-style stuff-up.
Millions of people around the world clutched their pearls when Warren Beatty mistakenly announced the Best Picture Oscar winner was La La Land instead of Moonlight at this year’s Academy Awards.
But Channel Nine is confident they won’t make the same mistake.
“We have a number of processes in place to ensure we protect the integrity of the TV Week Logie Awards,” a Nine spokesman told news.com.au.
“Three senior producers check every award to ensure we have the right winners in the correct envelopes. The sealed envelopes are checked again three times on the night of the awards to ensure the presenters have the right envelope before they step on stage.”
With the Logies just a few days away, Waleed Aly is the firm favourite to take home the Gold Logie for the second year in a row.
Sportsbet has Samuel Johnson as the second favourite followed by Jessica Marais, Grant Denyer, Peter Helliar and Rodger Corser.
More than 1000 guests will walk the 124 metre red carpet this Sunday before being seated inside the Crown palladium Ballroom.
Once inside they’ll be treated to canapés consisting of:
• Seared yellowfin tuna with lemongrass soy dressing
• Cured salmon, avocado and caper berry tartlets
• Tomato, mozzarella and basil bruschetta
• Slow roasted lamb loin with smoked eggplant and pomegranate
For mains, guests can choose between grilled Riverina beef tenderloin with osso bucco pithivier,
pumpkin puree, broccolini and cabernet jus or pan seared ocean trout with minted pea ravioli and tomato and caper vierge.
And there are several options on offer for dessert:
• Salted caramel religieuse
• Raspberry marshmallow cone
• Passionfruit tart, white chocolate ganache
• Granny Smith crémeux, sablé Breton
• Lemon and lime meringue tart
• Chef’s selection of Victorian cheese with dried fruits and crackers
As you’d expect the booze will be flowing freely on the night with an endless amount of Nicolas Feuillatte Brut Resérve French Champagne, Vantage Australia’s The Spirit of Melbourne cocktails and Peroni Nastro Azzurro available to the stars.
An open bar means regular trips to the bathroom but guests will have to time their runs to the toilets. The doors will be shut when the ceremony is running and if they don’t make it back to their table before the ad break ends, there will be 40 seat fillers on hand ready to take their spot.
The 2017 TV Week Logie Awards will be broadcast live on Channel Nine from 7pm on Sunday, April 23
