Here’s the top tech news for Tuesday:
1. A self-described “Tinder for jobs” just raised another $1.9 million and has revealed an industry-first feature. Job matchmaker app Found showed how its new functionality that allows employers to pick job candidates according to location, gender, cultural background and disabilities is helping the Australian Defence Force meet its female recruitment targets. 2. The man who started online retail stockbroking in Australia has joined fintech Hashching. CommSec founder Paul Rickard was revealed today as an investor in the mortgage marketplace startup, and will join its board along with finance media personality Marty Switzer. 3. A Sydney fashion rental startup just raised $4.2 million. AirTree Ventures led the capital raising round, but GlamCorner has also attracted big-name support from the fashion industry, including designer Sarah-Jane Clarke and Marshall Investments, which owns the company behind the Sportscraft, SABA and JAG brands. 4. The NBN’s chief executive has admitted the organisation has an image problem. Bill Morrow told the AFR that all the complaints regarding retailers not delivering on promised speeds does the NBN reputational harm, and says it would review the wholesale pricing model that the woes are blamed on. One solution proposed is to force retailers guarantee a minimum level of service.
5. Kogan shares are going gangbusters. The ASX-listed online electronics retailer reported a strong June quarter and this took the share price up 5% to $2.16 this morning, far above the $1.80 IPO price 12 months ago. Read more here.
