The page is turning on Australia’s automotive retailing market.

By the end of this week the last-Holden vehicle made in Australia will roll off the assembly line, ending a 150-plus year tradition of locally manufactured and retailed cars Down Under.

After more than a decade of difficulty squaring the economics of manufacturing cars locally, the sector that was once one of the stalwart pillars of the Australian economy has now vanished.
