H&M has unveiled more details about its highly-anticipated first Tasmanian store, announcing that it will be located in the Cat and Fiddle Arcade in Hobart and will open on 5 May.
Similarly to the Swedish fashion giant’s other Australian stores, the location will be a sizable 2,600 square metres in size and will be set over two levels.
It will be H&M’s 27th store nationwide and will offer H&M’s will range of apparel, underwear and accessories.
The Cat and Fiddle Arcade is home to more than 70 specialty retail stores and is anchored by Myer, Target and JB Hi-Fi.
The move will signal further headwinds for both embattled brands Myer and Target, who will compete directly with H&M in the centre.
“We are excited to announce that our new store at the Cat and Fiddle Arcade in Hobart will be opening on the 5th of May” said Hans Andersson, Australian Country Manager for H&M.
“Our customers are number one and we are looking forward to finally introducing the H&M brand to Hobart and meeting our new customers on opening day”.
Expanding its presence to Tasmania will also extend H&M’s national reach, complimenting its existing presence in Victoria, NSW, WA, Queensland and South Australia.
