The Australian dollar is lower, coming under pressure after the release of weaker than expected Chinese economic growth and industrial production figures.
At 0635 AEST on Wednesday, the local currency was worth 77.72 US cents, down from 77.85 US cents on Tuesday.
Data released on Tuesday showed Chinese gross domestic product growth in the March quarter slowed to 1.4 per cent from 1.6 per cent in the previous quarter, and industrial production growth slowed to six per cent from 6.2 per cent.
One Australian dollar buys 83.18 Japanese yen, from 83.22 yen and 62.80 euro cents, from 62.78 euro cents.
