A man has been charged after allegedly going on a crime spree in Brisbane’s north last night.

The 29-year-old man, allegedly toting a firearm, first unsuccessfully tried to carjack a driver in a Kedron underground car park about 9pm yesterday.

About an hour later he allegedly successfully carjacked a Volkswagen Golf driver on Lambert Street at Kangaroo Point.

PolAir tracked the car to Carseldine where the man broke into a house by smashing a window.

The homeowners were out for dinner at the time, telling 9NEWS they “couldn’t believe their luck”.

"We're all in one piece, the window can be replaced, this can all be cleaned up,” resident Graham Rowley said.

The alleged offender was arrested and charged with armed robbery, possessing dangerous drugs and break and enter.

He will face court tomorrow.
