A neighbour has described hearing screaming and yelling at the time a 41-year-old man was stabbed to death outside a home north of Brisbane.
Paul Shannon Andrews died after suffering multiple stab wounds to his abdomen during an altercation on Brushwood Court in Mango Hill on Friday night.
Police have charged 36-year-old Darren James Lawler with murder.
Neighbour Tane Smith was home when the fight broke out about 8:30pm.
"I just heard screaming and then lots of yelling," he said.
"I went to go look outside and it was two people fighting. It seemed pretty intense, they were very loud.
"There were a couple of people who did see him while he was on the ground who were trying to help him, trying to do CPR on him.
"It's usually a quiet neighbourhood so it's a bit of a shock something like that would happen."
Paramedics tried to revive Mr Andrews but he died at the scene.
Police said the alleged attacker and victim were known to each other.
Mr Lawler was taken into custody on Friday night, but was unable to face court on Saturday because he needed stitches and other medical treatment.
Another woman was questioned by police and taken from the scene by detectives.
Police cordoned off several properties on Brushwood Court, with forensic investigators examining the driveway where the death occurred.
On Saturday morning, a police drone was also used to fly over the single-storey property where Mr Andrews died.
It is understood Mr Lawler was living at the property with a young child, with neighbours saying the young family had only moved into the street in recent weeks.
Some neighbours, including Mick Phillis, said they were unable to spend the night in their homes because the size of the crime scene prevented them from getting to their properties.
"There was police everywhere. It was all cordoned off. I couldn't get through and they wouldn't let me in," Mr Phillis said.
He said his son was in the house and was still unable to leave on Saturday morning.
"He saw the police officers arrive and people doing CPR on the deceased," he said.
Another neighbour, Troy Robinson, said he was awoken by sirens.
"Being so close to where we live it's a bit of an eye opener," he said.
Mr Lawler is expected to face the Brisbane Magistrate Court early next week.
