The Brisbane Broncos have confirmed what everyone expected, naming South Sydney coach Anthony Seibold as the replacement for Wayne Bennett from 2020.
At the end of a week of change at NRL clubs, the Broncos announced Seibold's signing on a four-year-deal, with Bennett remaining in charge at Red Hill for 2019.
The Broncos board endorsed Seibold as coach at a meeting on Tuesday night, but in a statement Brisbane said the club was, "looking forward to celebrating Wayne's last season at the Broncos".
Chairman Karl Morris said Seibold was the most outstanding candidate interviewed by the Broncos' selection committee.
"Anthony was a stand-out. His football knowledge is exceptional, as is his thinking and process around people management," Morris said in the statement.
"He also has a strong commitment that will add to the commercial and community aspects of our club, which is extremely important to the Brisbane Broncos."
Chief executive Paul White said the club had done the right thing for the future of the Broncos.
"Our job is to look after the long-term future of this club and that is what we have done through Anthony's appointment," he said.
"Anthony is one of the best young coaches in the game and having him for 2020 is a huge win for our members, players, staff, sponsors and fans."
Last week, South Sydney kicked off the movement of coaches, announcing Bennett would join the Rabbitohs from 2020.
On Sunday, Wests Tigers released Ivan Cleary as coach and announced their hire of Michael Maguire to take charge for the next three seasons.
The following day, the Panthers confirmed Cleary would join his son Nathan at Penrith in 2019, signing a five-year deal as coach.
