Leckie was replaced with what appeared to be a hamstring problem early in the second half of Hertha's 3-1 loss at Bayer Leverkusen.

The 27-year-old's German Bundesliga club have yet to release any details about the injury.

Australia national team coach Graham Arnold will be hoping for a positive prognosis with the Socceroos' defence of their Asian Cup title kicking off against Jordan on January 6.

Leckie has scored twice in his past six league outings, his latest was midweek with a low crisp finish in a 2-2 draw with Augsburg.

One positive for the Socceroos was a healthy return to action from midfield maestro Tom Rogic.

Rogic played 90 minutes for Celtic in their 3-0 win against Dundee.

The Canberra product was in fine form for the Hoops creating a number of chances for his side with slick passing and dribbling. 

Mat Ryan had a tough outing for his Premier League club Brighton as they suffered a 2-0 loss away from home to Bournemouth. 

Despite controlling the early tempo, The Seagulls conceeded in the 21st minute to go into the interval down 1-0.

Key Brighton defender Lewis Dunk was given his marching orders in the 73rd minute after a second yellow card which opened the door for Bournemouth to capitalise on their extra man advantage.

David Brooks claimed a second goal moments later to secure the win.

Jackson Irvine's Hull City snatched a dramatic 3-2 win against Swansea in the Championship 

Irvine, playing in an attacking midfield role, was a dangerous customer for the visiting Swansea and played a key role in the comeback win.

Also in the Championship, Massimo Luongo played 90 minutes in QPR's 1-0 win against Nottingham Forrest.

Luongo was booked in the second half of the match but was still able to help his side hold on for the win.

Fringe Socceroos midfielder Kenneth Dougall made a triumphant return from a serious ankle injury in Barnsely's 1-0 win against Blackpool in League One.

The former Brisbane Roar youth product was not expected to play again this year but was able to make a second half cameo in the win.

Ryan Williams also came off the bench in Rotherham's 4-0 loss to West Brom in the Championship, while James Meredith played 71 minutes for Millwall in their 1-0 loss to Stoke City. 

Graham Arnold would've been pleased to see his trio of Socceroos all see game time in Hibernian's 1-1 draw with Livingston.

Martin Boyle and Mark Milligan both started the game for Hibs and played the full 90 minutes, while striker Jamie Maclaren came on as a second half substitute.

Also in Scotland, Oliver Bozanic played 90 minutes for Hearts in their loss to Aberdeen.

In Holland, Aziz Behich was an unused substitute in PSV's 3-1 win against AZ Alkmar.  Trent Sainsbury was not included in the match day squad.

Finally, Robbie Kruse was a second half substitute for his German second division side VFL Bochum as they defeated FC Cologne 3-2. 

Kruse was introduced to the contest in the 59th minute.
