Christian claims bump catch ... was it the food poisoning?
Renegades veteran Dan Christian provided a somewhat entertaining moment early on in the match when he tried to claim a catch fielding at backward point.
He dived to latch on to a Jake Weatherald cut, which clearly bounced off the bat into the turf before finding Christian’s mitts.
It was then revealed by ‘keeper Tim Ludeman that Christian’s bizarre mix-up may have been the result of being hospitalised with food poisoning earlier in the day.
Fox Cricket commentator Adam Gilchrist suggested Christian may still have been affected by medication, leading to his confusion at the “catch”.
Everyone could laugh about it in the end and Christian didn’t seem too ill.
Ludeman’s hilarious commentary audition
Renegades wicketkeeper Tim Ludeman might just have a career in the commentary box ahead of him once he hangs up the gloves.
The Fox Cricket commentary team asked the mic’d-up gloveman to give them a taste of his best impersonations during the 13th over of the first innings, and Ludeman didn’t disappoint.
He knocked out some Richie Benaud, followed by some Tony Greig.
The Fox Cricket team were certainly entertained.
Boof goes bonkers over Lehmann Jr
The last thing Darren Lehmann needed while commentating for Fox Cricket was his son, Jake, to have to walk to the crease with three balls remaining in the innings.
Lehmann almost refused to even watch as his son took guard to Kane Richardson in the final over. But the former national coach went ballistic when young Jake smashed his first ball over the mid-wicket boundary for six.
