A winter storm roaring through the Midwest headed East on Sunday, as forecasts called for up to two feet of snow in the Northeast. According to AccuWeather, several areas including Boston and Pittsburgh had conditions where wind chills left temperatures feeling below -17 degrees celsius.
The current temperature in Niagara Falls is -5 degrees celsius, but feels like -11 with gusts of wind reaching up to 33km/h.
The Weather Network has issued a freezing rain warning, saying "a band of snow mixed with ice pellets will move through the regions tonight with 2 to 5 cm of snow. The snow and ice pellets will change over to or become mixed with a period of freezing rain overnight tonight. The freezing rain may last several hours before changing over to rain early Wednesday morning."
In 2018, it was so cold across Canada that electric poles were snapping in Nova Scotia, leaving 158,000 people without power. Ice skating was cancelled, and windows were breaking.
