A cramped plane cabin can be pungent at the best of times — but have you ever smelt so ripe you were kicked off a flight?
- Yossi Adler said his family was not allowed back on the flight from Miami
- American Airlines has confirmed "several passengers" complained about their odour
- The family think their smell was not the source of the problem and are seeking answers
An American couple is making international headlines for all the wrong reasons, after they were reportedly booted from an American Airlines flight after other passengers complained about their body odour.
Yossi Adler told WPLG Local 10 News he was preparing to fly from Miami to Detroit with his wife, Jennie and their young daughter on Wednesday night when they found themselves being escorted off the plane.
"All of a sudden, as soon as they took us off, they closed the gate and then they said, 'Sorry sir, some people complained you had body odour and we're not letting you back on'," Mr Adler told the news outlet.
Jennie Adler said they began approaching people in the airport terminal for a second opinion.
"It's embarrassing, but we asked them, 'Do you think we smell? Because we got kicked off a plane for smelling'."
In a statement to Local 10 News, American Airlines confirmed the family's aroma wasn't to the liking of all on board.
"Mr Adler and his wife were removed from the flight when several passengers complained about their body odour," a statement from the airline read.
It said the family were booked into a hotel for the night and given meal vouchers, before being rebooked on another flight the following day.
The Adlers ultimately made it back to Detroit — but they're still trying to sniff out the real reason they were removed.
"I want them [the airline] to own up to what really happened and to tell me the truth," Mr Adler told Local 10 News.
"What was it?"
