Carlton's Alex Fasolo has broken his arm after taking a tumble on Australia Day, making him the second AFL star injured on Saturday.
- Alex Fasolo admitted he had been drinking before tripping and breaking his arm at a house party
- Fasolo is expected to miss six to eight weeks with the injury
- Port Adelaide's Ollie Wines was water-skiing near the town of Mannum when he hurt his shoulder
Fasolo, a signing from Collingwood during the off-season, joined Ollie Wines on the casualty list after the Port Adelaide gun injured his shoulder while water-skiing on Australia Day.
According to Carlton, Fasolo was drinking with mates at a house party in Richmond when he tripped out the front of the house and tried to break his fall with his arm, fracturing his left radius just after midnight.
Fasolo admitted he was "incredibly embarrassed" and said he would spend the next few months trying "to regain the respect of my teammates, coaches, members and supporters".
"I certainly regret the behaviour that led to this injury, particularly since the club has been nothing but supportive of me since I came across last year," he said.
"I'm now fully focused on my recovery and hope to be out on the track as soon as possible."
The 26-year-old underwent surgery and is expected to miss six to eight weeks and, with Carlton's AFL season opener on March 21, head of football Brad Lloyd said the team was hoping to have him back early in the season.
"Alex is OK [but] he's obviously disappointed," Lloyd said.
"He's embarrassed by the situation and realises he's set himself back."
Carlton said any potential sanction was yet to be determined.
Meanwhile, the extent of the injury to Port Adelaide's Wines is not yet known.
Wines, who led the team in disposals last year, was water-skiing near the town of Mannum on Saturday.
The team's vice-captain injured his shoulder and was sent for scans, but the club said it would not comment until the full extent of the injury was known.
The 24-year-old is an experienced water-skier, posting regular shots on social media.
