A man who allegedly stole a truck from a Salisbury South business has been arrested by police after the prime mover became stuck on a bridge while heading towards Adelaide's salt flats.
Key points:
- The truck was fitted with a GPS device, allowing police to track it
- A 33-year-old man was found by police still sitting in the driver's cab
- Three teenagers were arrested for theft in a separate incident on Sunday
Police said the truck and trailer were stolen from the suburb north of Adelaide just after 1:30pm yesterday.
The owners of the vehicle had fitted the truck with a GPS device, allowing police to track the vehicle as it headed north towards Virginia then on to Beagle Hole Road at Buckland Park.
Police patrols searched a narrow dirt road near Adelaide's salt pans and found the stolen truck wedged on a wooden bridge, with the suspect still sitting in the driver's cab.
The 33-year-old from Salisbury Downs was charged with several offences including serious criminal trespass and illegal use of a motor vehicle.
He was refused bail and will appear in the Elizabeth Magistrates Court tomorrow.
Trio of teens arrested for theft
In a separate incident, three teenagers were arrested after they allegedly broke into several homes in Millswood, an inner-southern suburb of Adelaide.
Police said they were called to Grantley Avenue just before 3:30pm on Sunday after a resident reported seeing a teenage boy climb through a bathroom window of their neighbour's home.
Patrols then converged on the area and confirmed the home had been broken into, with several items of jewellery stolen while the homeowners were out.
Police said a search of the surrounding streets was conducted and three teenage boys were spotted running along Mill Street near a tram line.
Two 15-year-olds and a 13-year-old boy were found to be in possession of stolen property from three homes.
The trio were arrested and charged with three counts of aggravated serious criminal trespass and theft and were bailed to appear in the Adelaide Youth Court at a later date.
