1. The US is considering more sanctions on Iran. US President Donald Trump announced that the US would pursue additional sanctions on Iran but did not specific which areas they will be enacted.

2. Microsoft does not allow its employees to use the workplace chat app Slack. The tech giant reportedly cited security risks as its reason for the internal ban. The GeekWire report comes just days after Slack went public.

3. Ash Barty is the world’s number one tennis player. Australian Ash Barty defeated German Julia Goerges at the Birmingham Classic, claiming the title spot in the competition as well as the world number one position. Barty is the first Australian tennis player to hold the number one position since 2003, when Leyton Hewitt was at the top.

4. Life on Mars? NASA’s Curiosity rover discovered high amounts of methane in the air on Mars, indicating signs of life on the planet.

5. Property auctions see steady lift. Sydney and Melbourne’s auctions are still seeing energy from the election, two months on. Inner city areas in both Sydney and Melbourne performed well over the weekend. According to the AFR, fewer houses are up for auction which is likely to weaken the market’s energy while house prices remain flat.

6. Bitcoin is trading above US$10,000. The price of a single bitcoin exceeded US$10,000 for the first time since March 2018. It came after Facebook announced the launch of its new cryptocurrency Libra.

7. Amazon is expanding its Air fleet. The company aims to have 70 planes by 2021 to speed up its deliveries. Among them are 15 Boeing planes which have been converted to carry cargo around the world. Take a look inside one of these converted planes here.

8. Scottish people would vote for independence if Boris Johnson becomes prime minister, according to a new poll. Johnson is a divisive figure in Scotland, with a net approval rating of minus 37%.

9. The rent in Hong Kong is so high that residents are considering putting down offers on haunted homes. It comes after Hong Kong was named the most unaffordable city in the world for the ninth year in a row.

10. A new study has found that nearly nine out of 10 flying insects in hospitals carry potentially harmful bacteria. More than half of the strains were ‘suberbugs’ – resistant to at least one class of antibiotics.
