Although the body of the 10+ is around the same size as last year’s Note 9, the screen is significantly bigger, going from 6.4 inches to 6.8 inches thanks to almost unheard of screen to window ratio of 94 per cent.

If that’s too much screen for you, but you still want the power of the Note phone, there is also the 10 with the 6.3 inch screen and is closer to the S10 in size.

Unless you have the two phones side by side, it can be difficult to work out which is which.

The Aura Black and Aura Glow colours both look really great.

But the Aura Glow is perhaps my favourite phone colour of all time, due to its mesmerising prism of rainbows.

It’s what I imagine it would be like to look inside the horn of a unicorn in a house of mirrors.

The new Unibody S Pen doesn’t have a camera in it, as the rumours suggested, but it does have new "Air Actions" which allow you to control certain things on the phone without touching the screen. Changing the camera settings with the pen was particularly useful when the phone was propped up to take a group photo.

There’s also AR Doodles, which mean you can draw on someone in camera mode and then take a photo or video from different angles with the drawing staying in place.

It was a very cool feature to play with, and is going to be big for content creators, Snap Chatters, and immature siblings.

Galaxy Watch Active2

From $549, out 8th October 2019

Here’s where things get confusing: last year, the Galaxy Watch was the flagship Samsung smart watch, and earlier this year the Galaxy Watch Active was released as their stripped down fitness watch.

The Galaxy Watch Active2 is actually the successor to the Galaxy Watch, not the Active.

That said, it does look and feel similar to the Active, however the body feels a bit more solid, there’s a wider range of bands, and the bezel does something once more. Plus, there’s all those extra features.

Moving your finger around the capacitive touch bezel on the Active 2 isn’t quite as satisfying as moving the physical bezel on the Galaxy Watch, but its functionality is just as useful (even if these early test samples couldn’t pick up all of my movements).

It comes in both aluminium and stainless-steel flavours, and 40mm and 44mm sizes. Although the 44mm looks hugely chunky on display, it actually fits quite nicely on the wrist, and the extra screen real estate is useful.

Galaxy Tab S6

From $1099, in stores 13th of September.

Embracing the pro tablet life, the S6 is an impressive Android tablet which will likely provide an Android alternative to those who covet Apple’s iPad Pro. The S Pen for this has been deliberately designed to feel more like a traditional pen or pencil, and is super light and quite plasticky.

It feels a little cheap next to the Apple Pencil, but given that the replacement cost is only $60 compared to Apple’s $145, that can be forgiven. The Air Gestures from the S5 have been beefed up and give it more of a Powerpoint remote vibe, which will be great for people who have to give presentations at work or school.

There is a magnetic point on the back of the tablet to attach the S Pen, but it was easily knocked off and will definitely get lost in a bag without one of the new cases which securely attach it to the back of the tablet. The new keyboard case is really an essential purchase with the S6, particularly for those who want to use it as the laptop replacement it’s billed as, but at $199 it’s a costly extra. That said, the keys feel very satisfying.

One of the selling points of the tablet is how good it is for entertainment, and Samsung have worked hard on building a lot of Dolby Atmos enabled speakers into it. It sounds good for a tablet, but it still has the typical tinniness you would expect from tablet speakers.

AKG N700 NCM2

$499 out now

Taking them out of the box, you can tell that these headphones have been made with premium materials. You can also tell by looking at the ear cups that they were made for people with exceptionally small ears.

They sound fantastic, with deep, rich bass, and beautiful high notes.

However, the noise cancelling isn’t especially effective because it’s impossible to get a good seal on them without folding your ear to make it fit.

While the battery lasts between 23-32 hours with noise cancelling on (depending on whether they’re wired or wireless), the pain of trying to force your ears into headphones that were not designed to hold them means it’s unlikely anyone will wear them for that long.
