Raiders star Josh Papalii says he hit the ball first before collecting Adam Doueihi high, and is confident the tackle won't see him rubbed out of the grand final he powered Canberra into.

Papalii was nothing short of immense in the 16-10 win over Souths, scoring a barnstorming match-winning try when his side was reduced to 12 men and running for a game-high 179 metres.

But Papalii's man of the match showing was tempered when he was put on report in the 49th minute, with Doueihi taken from the field for a HIA before returning later in the match.

The Raiders face a nervous wait for Saturday's Match Review Committee findings, but Papalii wasn't sweating missing out on the club's first grand final in 25 years.

"I thought I got him on top of the ball and we're going to have to go back to the video and assess that," Papalii told NRL.com.

"The ref thought it was high and I'm not going to judge their call on that.

"They've got a job to do and they thought I did the wrong thing at that time and we copped that penalty and now we'll have to go back to the drawing board and see what happens."

A grade 1 careless high tackle charge would see Papalii free to play in next week's decider with an early guilty plea and a fine.

Coach Ricky Stuart stressed that he had not seen as many replays of the incident as he would like, but was confident his representative prop would not have a case to answer at the judiciary.

"I don't know if Papa did actually connect with his head," Stuart said.

"I don't believe that technique and style of tackle would be any more than careless.

"I thought it was a shoulder charge and I said in one interview 'if our game is pulling those things up it's wrong', but it wasn't a shoulder charge I don't think.

"Did he get on report for hitting high? You've got to understand he's got a wonderful technique. I don't believe he's got anything to answer to. He's hit the ball."

Along with Papalii's potential high tackle charge, the Raiders also have injury concerns around centre Joey Leilua (calf) and five-eighth Jack Wighton (shoulder).

Leilua failed to finish the game and appears long odds for next Sunday's decider given he was struggling to walk from the field.

Wighton was unconcerned by his shoulder complaint after full-time, as was Josh Hodgson when it came to the elbow he appeared to injure in a try-saving tackle on Cody Walker.

"I did it just running down the sideline, just a bit of a burner," Wighton said in the sheds afterwards.

"I'll keep the ice and physio up on it and be right to go."
