James Middleton has proposed to girlfriend Alizee Thevenet according to new reports, adding yet another (semi) royal engagement to this year's tally.
James, Kate Middleton's younger brother, allegedly popped the question to French girlfriend Alizee recently but chose to keep the engagement secret for a while, in keeping with his usually private nature.
According to Daily Mail reporter Richard Eden, one of the couple's close friends let the happy news slip.
"I can reveal that James is to wed his French girlfriend, Alizee Thevenet," he wrote, adding that the pair plan to announce their engagement next week.
Eden also wrote that Alizee, 29, has been spotted wearing a "beautiful sapphire sparkler" on her left hand, leading royal fans to wonder if the ring will look anything like Kate's.
The Duchess of Cambridge's engagement ring was originally worn by the late Princess Diana and features a large blue sapphire as the centre stone.
Though James is unlikely to have chosen a ring that resembles his sister's to pop the question to his girlfriend, there's no knowing until the couple release photos.
James and Alizee have been dating for little over a year after reportedly meeting in a South Kensington club in 2018, not long after James got out of a five-year relationship with socialite Donna Air.
Their couple's romance quickly blossomed and the pair moved in together earlier this year, but didn't reveal their relationship publicly until July.
James announced their love in a sweet Instagram post of the pair together, which he posted shortly after making his once-private Instagram page public.
"Sail away with me," he wrote alongside the snap.
They also travelled to St Barts for a holiday alongside sister Pippa and James Matthews, but haven't vacationed with Kate and Prince William yet. Invites to royal holidays are few and far between, even for family!
Now royal fans are excited for the pair to officially announce their engagement and are hoping for any details on when and where James and Alizee plan to wed, as well as wondering which royals will attend their big day.
Many have speculated that big sister Kate will be invited, along with William and their three children.
