Broncos prop Matt Lodge's immediate playing future is under a cloud after he suffered a knee injury at training.

News Corp reported that Lodge was sent for scans after suffering the injury on Tuesday, the results of which will be known in the next 24 hours.

A Brisbane staff member told NRL.com that "nothing is confirmed yet apart from the fact it is definitely not a full rupture".

The Broncos are hoping Lodge may be able to rehab the injury and get through the season but will know more after he sees a surgeon.

The 24-year-old prop is a crucial member of Brisbane's starting pack and, if fit, he would have been to start the season in the run-on side alongside Payne Haas in the front row.
