Retail Drinks appoints acting CEO

Retail Drinks Australia COO Michael Waters has stepped up to become acting CEO, taking over from founding CEO Julie Ryan, effective immediately.

Waters was formerly executive director and company secretary for the Liquor Stores Association NSW and ACT. He was a member of the strategic and structural review team that led to the creation of Retail Drinks in 2018.

Retail Drinks Australia is a national industry body that represents the interests of Australia’s packaged retail liquor stores.

Goddard becomes chair of JB Hi-Fi

Greg Richards has retired as chairman and a non-executive director of JB Hi-Fi, effective immediately. Richards has been a director of the company since December 2007 and chairman since May 2012.

He will be replaced by Stephen Goddard, who was appointed to the board in August 2016. He is also chair of the company’s remuneration and nominations committee and, until the new appointment, was a member of the audit and risk management committee.

Goddard has more than 30 years’ retail experience at the senior executive level, including finance director and operations director for David Jones, founding managing director of Officeworks, and various senior management roles with Myer.

He is currently a non-executive director of GWA Group and was previously a non-executive director and chair of the audit and risk management committees of Pacific Brands and Surfstitch Group.
