The Australian dollar rose against its US counterpart Friday, trading at 72.30 US cents, up from yesterday’s 71.92 US cents.

The local currency was at 72.00 US cents on Wednesday.

One Australian dollar buys 76.32 Japanese yen, up from 75.93 Japanese yen; 60.92 euro cents from 60.63 euro cents; 55.04 British pence from 54.61 British pence; and 108.20 NZ cents, down from yesterday’s 108.34 NZ cents.
