Tonight’s Oz Lotto has surged to a $5 million jackpot after going unclaimed last week.

Last Tuesday’s draw avoided a winner, bringing to an end a profitable run for a handful of lucky Australians who pocketed a combined $30 million from both the Oz Lotto and Powerball late last month.

A young man from Sydney’s west who won $20 million in the July Powerball vowed to share his winnings – and potentially “work harder”.

He purchased his winning marked 50-game entry online at thelott.com, Australia’s official lottery provider.

While he said he planned to spoil himself “a little”, he also said he had no immediate plans to quit his job to enjoy his millions.

“There’s certainly a lot to think about. I want to save some for the future and invest some too,” he said.

“I don’t know what I will do with work. I could take it easy or work harder.

“But one thing is for sure, I will certainly be taking some time off to enjoy life as a multi-millionaire.”

Meanwhile, a regional Victorian man is preparing to splash his cash on a new car after taking home more than $1 million in the TattsLotto draw on the weekend.

“I’ve been playing every week for about 40 years I reckon,” the Yarra Junction man said.

“I’ve never won anything like this before. It’s such good news.

“I checked my ticket in the store and I couldn’t believe it.”

“When you say I’m a millionaire, I have to tell you — that sounds all right.”

The winning entry was bought at the Yarra Junction Newsagency where the manager described the moment the man found out he had won the huge prize.

“It was amazing to see the look on his face when he discovered the win,” Matt Sartori said.

“We’ve decorated the store with lots of decorations, so all of our customers will know we’ve sold a winning entry.

“This is the fourth division one winning entry we’ve sold. The last time was about 15 years ago when we sold two division one winning entries in a few months.

“We hope the same thing happens this time around. We’ve been telling all our customers the last time it happened we had back to back wins.”
