Dr McCartney joins Woolworths Group with more than 20 years’ experience in occupational medicine.

“Given the scale of current public health challenges, I’ll be looking to hit the ground running. Together with the safety and leadership teams, I’ll be focused on implementing best practice Covid-19 risk management across the business as we navigate the pandemic,” McCartney said.

He will be responsible for weighing all the available medical information and advice to consider in the planning and implementation of a Covid-safe workplace. He will also engage with regulatory authorities and state and federal health departments, and develop educational materials for team members.

Dr McCartney will report to the Woolworths board and its relevant sub-committees as well as the group executive committee.

Bapcor, one of the Asia Pacific region’s leading providers of vehicle parts, accessories and equipment, has appointed James Todd and Mark Powell as non-executive directors, effective September 1.

Powell is a professional company director with more than 30 years’ experience in retail, logistics and wholesale in the UK, Spain and North America, as well as in Australia and New Zealand.

He was UK logistics operations director for Tesco, and divisional head for Booker Wholesale. He also ran Walmart Canada’s logistics operations.
