Comparisons are odious, as this feels utterly Munday’s record, a local blood release in the same classic survivor vein as Paul Kelly’s Post. That said, if you like Cat Power, Velvets-era Nico, and some inner-city cowgirl pop, you might want to tune in.
Meet You at the Studio tells the story of Tony and Astrid’s love, skipping to a sad-happiness. Beware of Strangers is like a Paul Bowles story set in Tangiers: cautionary, haunting. You Laugh You Cry could be a child’s song, but it’s an older woman letting go of life’s weight. It’s all a joy.
