It would be hard to imagine a performance more different from the conventional concert hall experience than the way in which Damian Barbeler will present his latest work this week.

Barbeler, an award-winning experimental composer and multi-media artist, will stage his two-part composition, entitled The Bush Somewhere, in this year’s eclectic Sacred Music Festival, now in its 10th year.

Part One of The Bush Somewhere will see Barbeler live-streaming as he walks through the bush around the Woronora River with Yuin elder Uncle Max Harrison. Based on what he learns from Uncle Max and the other parts of that experience, Barbeler will create a work to be live-streamed a few days later by violinist Veronique Serret.

“We're going to go for a walk and I’m going to be streaming from a camera perched on my shoulder,” says Barbeler. “We’ll be talking and I'll ask questions. A lot will be about trees because I’m interested in learning about them.”
