This time, there were two strange decisions made within five balls (which you can watch on our video player below) that left players, commentators and fans perplexed.
During the 18th over of the Adelaide Strikers’ innings against the Perth Scorchers, paceman Jhye Richardson thought he’d trapped Rashid Khan plumb LBW.

The Strikers tailender was caught on the crease before a fast Richardson delivery smashed into Rashid’s bad, right in front of the stumps.
However Rashid survived the appeal and was given not out — much to the surprise of Richardson and the Scorchers.
“How could you not give that out?” stunned Fox Cricket commentator Andrew Symonds said.
Adam Gilchrist added: “That’s cannoning into middle and leg, there’s no doubt about that.”
There was another questionable our balls later, this time that went in favour of the Scorchers.
Richardson fired in another well-directed yorker to Strikers batsman Matt Short that seemed destined for middle stump. The Scorchers appealed for LBW — and this time the umpire agreed, with Short dismissed for 16.
However replays suggested the ball didn’t even touch Short’s pads, instead flying off the toe of his bat down to the boundary for four runs.
“I reckon that’s just come straight off his cricket bat. Oh goodness me,” Symonds said.
“I reckon they’ve just got to sit down and use the technology that’s there. This can’t keep happening, it’s not a good look for the game – and there is technology there that they can use that cuts it out.”
The pair of calls left legendary leg-spinner and Fox Cricket commentator Shane Warne fuming.
“I’m sorry but who is in charge of the umpires in Australia?” Warne wrote on Twitter.
“Every game we see horrible mistakes & it’s embarrassing for the BBL completion!
“The big bash is a wonderful tournament but it’s fast becoming a joke and could ruin players careers. Please can we have DRS immediately!”
Warne wasn’t the only ex-cricketer left scratching their heads, with Jamie Cox and Darren Berry also expressing their frustration.
Officiating in the BBL has come under fire in recent weeks, with an array of incorrect decisions leading to calls for the DRS to be introduced into the competition.
On Sunday night, an umpire mistakenly gave Hobart Hurricanes batsman out Wil Parker when it was a free hit before Heat hitter Tom Cooper survived a seemingly plumb LBW shout.
“In the public domain of BBL followers and supporters, people are very keen to see DRS come in, in some capacity,” Gilchrist said. “I know Cricket Australia are certainly aware of that discussion and the dialogue that’s going around and they’re working out what the best way forward is.
“Whether it’s in this tournament, which would be challenging to change the rules halfway through – (but) it’s not out of the equation.”
Symonds argued now that all eight BBL teams had played four games for the tournament, BBL organisers had a great chance to introduce DRS at the perfect time.
Gilchrist agreed that it was a “common sense” approach, but added: “I don’t think we need to keep beating up on the umpires or saying how bad these mistakes are. We all make so many mistakes out on the field, we make them here in the commentary box and in every facet of our lives.”
