For the second time in as many months the Broken Hill Mundi Mundi Bash has been postponed, this time until April next year.
Key points:
- The Mundi Mundi Bash is postponed for the second time in two months
- New dates of April 21-23 next year are announced
- It means there will now be two Mundi Mundi festivals in 2022
The music festival had previously shifted from August to September, but with lockdown extended in Sydney organisers say they had no alternative.
“Realistically they’ve got lockdown for another month, that could go on, we don’t know if borders are going to open,” according to organiser Greg Donovan.
"After that we don’t know what type of restrictions will apply to large events.
New dates confirmed
The festival will now take place the week after Easter, from April 21-23.
Fortunately for both organisers and festival goers, the entire line-up including headliners Paul Kelly, Kate Cebrano and John Williamson, have confirmed they will be returning.
Thirsty Merc will be replaced by local artists.
“That’s what they’ve [ticket holders] signed up for that line-up, and we’re still committed to provide that line-up and the artists who have come on board are really excited and they want to come out to the Mundi Mundi plains,” Mr Donovan said.
Two in 2022
For organisers and music lovers desperate to dance out in the red dirt, it means there will be two Mundi Mundi Bash’s next year, much to the delight of event organisers.
“It’s going to be a big year for us,” Mr Donovan said.
“We haven’t set a date for the second one, but we’ll work on dates for that soon."
