Travis Wright takes the helm at Tigerlily

Boho fashion brand Tigerlily has named Travis Wright its new top boss following the departure of CEO Adam Wilkinson earlier this month.

Wright joins the company from online women’s fashion retailer Esther & Co, where she has worked for nearly seven years, most recently as its general manager. In that role, Wright oversaw significant investment in advertising and inventory in 2020, which led to the company having some of its best months, despite the impact of the global pandemic on consumer sentiment.

“The team [and] I are already off to a racing start this week – which I’m sure comes as no surprise,” Wright wrote in a LinkedIn post last week. “I can’t wait to look back a year from now on all we’ve achieved together. There is so much opportunity for Tigerlily in Australia and overseas. To say the least, it’s going to be a very exciting chapter.”

Mosaic Brands general manager from 2015 to 2020, John Hardy, has been named Esther & Co’s new general manager.

Wilkinson, who was also CEO of Crumpler, has moved to LK Group’s PAS Group, where he is head of new business.

Former Coach president and CEO Joshua Schulman has been appointed CEO of Michael Kors and future head of Capri Holdings, the parent company of Michael Kors, Versace and Jimmy Choo.

“I am thrilled to have Josh join Capri Holdings as CEO of the Michael Kors brand,” said outgoing Capri Holdings chairman and CEO John Idol.

“Josh is an outstanding leader with broad retail experience, industry depth and a proven track record of successfully operating and growing luxury brands.”

Schulman led Coach from 2017 to 2020 and is credited with turning around the American heritage brand, which is owned by Tapestry Inc. He also led Jimmy Choo from 2007 to 2012, and has held senior positions at Yves Saint Laurent, Gucci and other luxury brands.

Schulman joins Michael Kors effective immediately and will initially report to Idol. In September 2022, Idol will step down as CEO of Capri Holdings and transition to executive chairman. Schulman will become CEO of the company and join its board of directors.

Architect of Starbucks’ surge in China named country CEO

Starbucks China has named Leo Tsoi, one of the leading architects of its recent growth in the traditionally tea-drinking nation, its new CEO.

Tsoi joined Starbucks in 2001, when he worked as a marketing manager in Hong Kong for two years. He returned to the company in 2012 and held roles including vice-president of the North China region, chief marketing officer and vice-president of store development and design.

For the last five years, he has served as Starbucks China’s chief operating officer and president of retail, leading efforts to expand the brand’s footprint to 5,200 stores across more than 200 cities in Mainland China.

The coffee chain states that Tsoi has pioneered new store concepts that have influenced new coffee-inspired lifestyles and further elevated third-place experiences for Starbucks customers in China.

Starbucks China’s vice-president of digital ventures, Molly Liu, has been promoted to the chief operating officer role.
